Gove issues luke warm response to discussions as Tender Results loom

The Criminal Solicitors Law Association has reported the outcome of its intensive discussions with the New Secretary of State for Justice .

The response to the negotiations which sought the removal of the further 8.75% cut and the end to the Duty Contracts – “The Two Tier ” system is a derisory offer of suspending the cuts for 3 months . This offer invites further discussion but it seems unlikely that this will satisfy those who have made a stand for criminal justice .

Solicitors may gain little comfort from the fact that the Government seems at this stage determined to press on with two tier with announcements due during  the W/C 28th September .

The CSLA now seeks input on how to respond .
